L’Escape joins The Luxury Collection, a 1955 grand dame returns as Pullman, and Aman’s Janu plus Rosewood commit to Seoul — the city’s luxury bracket finally arrives.
Seoul’s pipeline is being rebuilt in two directions at once: heritage rebirths on the northern bank of the Han, and a first wave of true ultra-luxury brands committing to the city for the first time.
L’Escape, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Myeongdong (December 2025). The Chosun group’s Jacques Garcia-designed boutique — 204 rooms in Belle Époque Parisian fantasy — rebadged into Marriott’s Luxury Collection, giving Seoul a soft-brand flagship in its busiest shopping district.
The Ambassador Seoul – A Pullman Hotel (2025). The 1955 classic, the grand dame of Korean hospitality, emerged from an 18-month renovation under Accor’s Pullman flag — Namsan views, four restaurants, and a Dongdaemun address.
The second Westin Seoul (rebranded 2025). The former InterContinental in the COEX district became Marriott’s second Westin in the capital, deepening the Gangnam luxury cluster.
Janu Seoul (2027, pipeline). Aman’s younger, livelier sibling brand has committed to a site near Seoul Station — the strongest signal yet that global ultra-luxury now prices Seoul alongside Tokyo and Singapore.
Rosewood Seoul (pipeline). 250 rooms inside KPF’s Parkside mixed-use development — residences, offices, retail — the kind of anchor that revalues a whole district.
Seoul spent decades as Asia’s great hotel underachiever — a top-five economy with a bottom-half luxury inventory. That is ending all at once. When Aman chooses your city for Janu and Rosewood builds 250 rooms, the verdict is not about hospitality; it is about where global money thinks the cultural center of gravity is moving. K-content filled the funnel; the pipeline is cashing the check.
