The hub in numbers

RAK's 2025: 10,197,736 passengers (+10.09%) — a record, and the first time any Moroccan airport besides Casablanca Mohammed V crossed ten million. National airports hit 36.6 million (+11%); H1 2026 added another 8.8%, Menara at 5.64 million, with July 2026 at 770,339 (+9.15%) and peak days above 30,000.

The network is a European leisure map: France, the UK and Spain lead; Poland grew +32% in H1 2026, the Americas are the new frontier (North America +15.5% to 461,695 nationally; South America +34.3%). Casablanca and Marrakech together hold ~60% of Moroccan traffic; Menara's 36,795 H1 movements trail only Mohammed V's 45,824.

The strategic frame: AFCON 2025 (December–January) stress-tested the system — record daily peaks across the country — and the 2030 World Cup, co-hosted with Spain and Portugal, is the horizon every ONDA and ONCF investment now targets.

The TIO Read

Menara is Europe's most efficient leisure gateway to Africa: a single elegant terminal (the 2008 beauty with the photovoltaic canopy) processing ten million passengers a year, nine in ten international seats to Europe, low-cost carriers dominating — Ryanair, easyJet, Transavia, Vueling — with Royal Air Maroc holding the flag routes. Practically: the airport is 6 km from the medina; the #19 bus runs to Jemaa el-Fnaa for 30 MAD, petits taxis run 70–100 MAD agreed before departure, and arrivals at peak summer weekends queue hard — the 30,000-passenger days are real. The growth markets tell the strategy: Poland +32%, North America +15.5%, South America +34% off tiny bases — Morocco is diversifying beyond the French-British core exactly as the World Cup approaches. Watch item: terminal capacity — ONDA is studying expansion as Menara approaches design limits, and the AFCON peak days already strain it.
