Shenzhen: The City, Tracked

The tech city at full speed: Bao'an airport at a record 66.5 million with a third runway live since November 2025, China's densest metro, Rosewood landing on Shennan Boulevard — and a Spring Festival that drew 10.5 million visitors in nine days.

The hotel landscape

Shenzhen Bao'an closed 2025 with all-time records across the board: 66.48 million passengers (+8%), 2.05 million tonnes of cargo and 448,000 flights — and international passengers up over 20% to a record 6.3 million as Emirates arrived and 14 new international routes launched, from Melbourne to Malé. The third runway opened 29 November 2025.

The metro is China's densest: 634.5 km after four new sections opened on 28 December 2025, 3.285 billion rides in the year, a record 13.05 million on New Year's Eve, and Line 13 — run by Hong Kong's MTR — now threading the tech corridor from Shenzhen Bay to the northern districts.

Rosewood Shenzhen (300 rooms, 50 residences, Foster + Partners) headlines the 2026 hotel slate. The Shenzhen dossier is complete — a tracker plus four urban readings: the air hub, the rail hub, the arrivals table and the money flow.
