Two flags on one cliff — and the world's best restaurant next door

June 2025 gave Miraflores its biggest hotel event in years: the 321-room InterContinental Real and the 76-room Hotel Indigo opened as sister towers on the Costa Verde — four months before Sonesta planted 133 rooms by Kennedy Park, and days after Maido was crowned the best restaurant on Earth.

The Costa Verde duet

IHG and Grupo Poma's Real Hotels delivered the city's flagship opening of the decade on June 17, 2025: two connected hotels on the cliff edge opposite Larcomar. The InterContinental Real rises 21 stories with 321 rooms — 29 of them suites — a Club InterContinental lounge over the boardwalk, 950 square meters of event space and what the operators call the destination's largest outdoor hotel infinity pool, cantilevered toward the Pacific.

Hotel Indigo is the boutique counterweight: 76 rooms channeling 1970s Lima — desert tones, adobe geometry nodding to the Huaca Pucllana pyramid next door, a rooftop pool of its own. Between them sit five restaurants, including the Nau Nikkei rooftop on the 21st floor, and a 400-square-meter spa with sea views. Sonesta followed in October with a 133-room upscale property steps from Kennedy Park — its second in Lima, run with regional partner GHL.

The table that drives the bookings

The week's other opening was not a hotel but a coronation: on June 19 in Turin, Maido — Mitsuharu Tsumura's Nikkei dining room a mile from the new hotels — was named The World's Best Restaurant 2025, succeeding Lima's own Central, which took the title in 2023. Lima now holds four spots in the world's top 50: Maido at No. 1, Kjolle at No. 9, Mérito at No. 26 and Mayta at No. 39.

Even the airport joined the food race: the new Jorge Chávez terminal, opened June 1, 2025, devotes 8,000 square meters to dining, headlined by the Perusuyo food hall curated by Tsumura himself and chef Jaime Pesaque of Mayta. The booking reality of the new Lima: Maido wants two to three months' notice, Central three to four — and the hotels above are the base camp from which those tables are won.

THE TIO READ
The reviewer’s call

Our read: book the trip backward from the table. Lock Maido or Central the week you decide to travel — then choose the hotel: the InterContinental for the pool and the Club lounge, the Indigo for design and price, the Sonesta for Kennedy Park on foot. June mornings are gray in Miraflores; the limeño summer runs December to April, and the new infinity pool is an April argument, not a July one. One tasting menu a day is plenty — Lima rewards the second ceviche, not the second seating.
