The Outer Islands — Amirantes, Alphonse Group, Southern Coral Group, Farquhar, Aldabra — spread across 1,000+ km southwest of Mahé. No hotels in the conventional sense: a handful of conservation-staffed lodges and eco-camps, reachable only by charter aircraft and boat. This is where the country's diving, fishing and expedition product actually lives.
The client economy inverts the mainland's: capacity is measured in rods, not rooms — Alphonse hosts 12 anglers a week, Cosmoledo 10 — seasons are weather-capped, and the week, not the night, is the unit of sale.

Cosmoledo Atoll — "the GT capital of the world" — is the most remote lodge in the country: 1,000 km from Mahé, a three-hour charter to Astove then a 90-minute sail. Eight eco-pods on Wizard Island, ten anglers a week, 60–90 fish per group per week, giant trevally past 120 lbs, plus bonefish to 12 lbs, milkfish, permit, triggerfish. Season December–April (bookable windows from October). 2026/27 rates: $18,790 per person sharing (7 nights / 6 guided days), $23,290 single-skiff upgrade path; the Mahé–Astove charter ($4,950) is included. Astove itself — the atoll Jacques Cousteau filmed — runs smaller and wilder, with its own legendary GT wall.

Alphonse Island Lodge is the outer islands' full-service address: 10,000 acres of flats across the Alphonse–St François–Bijoutier group, an hour by charter from Mahé, open year-round. The fishing shelf: 7 nights / 6 guided days from $15,280 per person (Beach Bungalow, shared skiff) to $28,930 solo villa — peak season October–May with 12 rods, SE-trades season June–September with just 6 (yellowfin and Indo-Pacific permit time). The unique angle: Alphonse is the only outer-island lodge where non-anglers get a full programme — 10 included dives a week, conservation patrols with the Island Conservation Society, kids' programme, farm tours. The 4-bedroom Beach Retreats take groups of 4–6 at $79,720–$110,480 the week.
Shelf 3 · The water itselfLiveaboards & day charters — the accessible frontier
- Liveaboard diving: SV Sea Pearl (a 100-year-old schooner, 18 guests) and M/V Galatea run 8-day/7-night inner- and outer-island itineraries from $1,900–2,400 per person — wall dives, wrecks, bumphead parrotfish, and in calm months the outer-atoll crossings. October–November is the fleet's prime window; only Galatea sails December.
- Aldabra expeditions: 10–14-night voyages to the UNESCO atoll — the expedition market's holy grail, priced on application, sold to divers and naturalists a year ahead.
- Day charters from Mahé: big-game fishing (marlin, sailfish, tuna, wahoo) from ~$870–1,900 per private boat per day — the $0-commitment way to test the addiction before writing the $18K cheque.
Who this market is
The most loyal niche in travel: repeat rates at outer-island lodges run far above mainstream resorts — anglers rebook the same tide week year after year.
Who it isn't
First-time Seychelles visitors, pool-and-spa travellers, anyone who needs a second restaurant. The eco-camp is the point, not the compromise.
The conservation engineWhy the fishing stays this good
The outer islands work because they are funded like reserves and fished like sanctuaries: mandatory conservation donations ($175–266/week per angler) flow to the Island Conservation Society; catch-and-release is the rule on the flats; rod caps are absolute. The guest is the funding mechanism — the exact model of Issue № 05, sharpened to its purest form: ten people a week paying $20K each to keep 1,000 km² of ocean effectively private.
