32.6 million and an all-time record: Zurich Airport outgrows its own history

Zurich Airport handled 32.6 million passengers in 2025 — up 4.5% and the highest annual volume in its history, 103.4% of the pre-crisis peak — while revenues reached CHF 1.36 billion and The Circle matured into a business district of its own.

A record built on occupancy, not movements

('The record came from fuller, larger aircraft: movements of 270,116 remained 1.9% below 2019 while passengers exceeded it — seat occupancy hit 79.8%. Local traffic drove the volume: 71.3% of passengers began or ended their journey in Switzerland, with transfers at 28.6%.', 'Peak days broke 120,000 passengers for the first time during the summer and autumn holidays. Cargo added 440,930 tonnes, up 1.1%. The operator’s results matched the traffic: revenue of CHF 1.36 billion, EBITDA of CHF 762 million, and The Circle — the airport’s landside business complex — posting record real-estate income of CHF 198 million.')

The group beyond Kloten

('Zurich Airport Ltd now runs an international portfolio — airports it operates abroad handled a combined 16 million passengers in 2025 — with the flagship project a new airport at Noida near Delhi. At home, the pitch is unchanged: Switzerland’s global gateway, embedded in the SBB network so completely that the airport functions as a rail station with runways attached.', 'For the traveller the practicals are Swiss-simple: trains to the Hauptbahnhof every few minutes in ten to eleven, trams into the city, and a terminal compact enough that transfer times are measured in escalators, not buses.')

THE TIO READ
The reviewer’s call

ZRH is the airport equivalent of the city it serves: not the biggest, not the flashiest, simply the one where nothing is wasted. The 2025 record proves the model — fuller planes, tighter operations, and a catchment that keeps getting richer. Land here and you are on the Bahnhofstrasse before a Londoner clears Heathrow.
