Coaches · Vienna
One terminal, one metro stop: Vienna’s international coaches concentrate at the VIB in Erdberg — 45 departures a day to Bratislava, 29 to Budapest, and a dense regional web across Austria.
The city’s international coach hub is the VIB at Erdbergstraße 200A, directly at the U3 Erdberg metro station. FlixBus and the main international carriers operate from here; it is the single point of concentration for Vienna’s long-distance coach traffic.
Vienna–Bratislava is the densest corridor: 45 FlixBus rides a day, fares from $8.98 — in direct competition with the hourly rail link. Vienna–Budapest runs 29 times a day from $17.48. Blaguss and Postbus cover the Austrian regional network.
Some services also stop at Matzleinsdorferplatz (Triester Straße 2) south of the centre. A standard city single ticket costs €2.40; the metro and S-Bahn make the terminal reachable from anywhere in the city without a transfer.
THE TIO READ
Vienna–Bratislava by coach is the cheapest inter-capital link in the European Union, and the VIB’s location on the U3 makes it genuinely painless. The only caveat is Friday-afternoon congestion on the A4; the rail alternative is an hour and similar money, so choose the train when time matters and the coach when it does not. For Budapest, overnight coaches double as rolling budget hotels.
